Drug Stores

You probably did not pick your doctors office out because of a blinking roadside sign, so why would you do the same when picking out a drug store. Many people don't take the time to pick out a good quality drug store. They choose whatever is on their way home from the office and leave it at that. With a small investment in time, you can pick out the right drug store for your needs. Finding a place that not only offers fast turnaround by excellent customer service.

Your first stop in deciding on a good drug store is to consult your local yellow pages. There should be quite a few options to choose from. In addition to locally owned drug stores you may find one of the following major chains: Walgreens drug store, CVS, Eckerd, Osco, and Rite Aid. Determine which ones are in close proximity to you, first. Once you have narrowed down your options, take the time to visit the drug stores in question. Browse their selection of items and look for pharmaceutical information on the walls. Most drug stores employ a few certified pharmacists and several pharmacy technicians. Ask to speak to a certified pharmacist; if one is unavailable it might not be the right drug store for you. You want to have at least one certified pharmacist available at all times, to answer your medication questions.

It is important to remember that your local drug store does much more than just fill prescriptions. They are your first line of defense against drug interactions and allergic reactions. They should know what drugs you are taking at all times. If you are in need of some over the counter medicine, don't be afraid to talk with your drug store pharmacist. Ask them if they know of any drug interactions with the particular product. Most drug stores will also have an easy way for you to update allergy information. If you experience a reaction to a particular drug, let your doctor and pharmacist know right away. They can tag your file, so that you will not receive another drug from the same class. It's your health, so take care of it and choose the right drug store.
