Everybody has to buy groceries. It is a fact of life. Where you buy those groceries is up to you. Choosing a grocery store should be the first step when moving into a neighborhood. You need to find something close to you that offers a good selection and excellent prices. With a little bit of research, you should be able to find the perfect grocery store for your shopping habits.
Driving around the neighborhood you should be able to spot the nearest grocery stores. Major chains are all over the country, you may have one of the following near you: Albertsons, Kroger, Ralphs, Acme, Safeway, Frye, Aldis, Smiths, Tops, and Jewels. You may also have a few smaller locally owned shops. Take note of all of the grocery stores within a 5 mile radius of your home, if possible. This allows for quick trips to purchase forgotten items such as eggs or milk.
Once you have narrowed down your choices, invest twenty minutes walking through the aisles. You will want a grocery store that offers a wide variety of choices. Look for your favorite foods and beverages to ensure a good fit. No one wants to travel across town because their chosen grocery store doesn't offer their favorite juice or soda. So take note of their selection.
Next you will want to research their prices. Pick a list of five frequently purchased items, and take note of how much they cost at each grocery store. This should give you a good overview of which store is cheaper. Many grocery stores offer frequent shopper programs, with incentives and deals for card carrying members. Consult your grocery store checkout clerk for more information on these programs.
With a little bit of common sense you should have no trouble picking out the perfect grocery store. Take note of when they are busy, so that you can plan your trips for maximum convenience. Happy shopping!
